Diada a l'anglesa
Doncs aixo, celebrant (o no) la diada de St George desde l'extranger i, ves per on, sense voler-ho he trobat un nexe d'unio entre Catalunya i Anglaterra:
- The cult of St George probably first reached England during the reign of King Edward III of England, George came to be recognised as thepatron saint of England. Shakespeare firmly placed St George within the national conscience in his play Henry V in which the English troops are rallied with the cry “God for Harry, England and St George.”
- George also came to be considered as patron of the Crown of Aragon (in catalan: Sant Jordi). His feast date remains the second most important National Feast in Catalonia. There, it is known in catalan as Diada de Sant Jordi. This tradition inspired UNESCO to declare this the International Day of the Book.
